Last Words from N-Sid-Sen
“I think it is all light at the end;
I think it is air.” -Larry Levis
I don’t know what I think.
Maybe it is music or, perhaps, just this:
me speaking to eighty kids who listen,
now that’s a kind of heaven!
But it can’t hold for long,
nothing eternal, like these tress,
that water – those campfires burning,
nothing to take home,
like each others’ smiles, a new friend.
Here’s my parting message:
What the lake says, I say.
What the stars whisper, I agree.
What the fire burns, I want you to hear:
Be good to each other.
May God bless you.
See you next year!
